Born
in 1956 in Shanghai, a native of Wuxian, Jiangsu Province, he graduated
from the Art Department of Drama Institute of Shanghai in 1980.He is now
teaching in the Art Department of Shanghai Professional School of Light
Industry. He is also member of Shanghai Artists’ Association.
His
individual painting exhibition was held in the Gallery of Music Hall in
Beijing in October 1991, in which 20 works of art were on display. Five
paintings were sold to The Orient Arts Foundation of Hong Kong for
collection. The oil painting “Love” took part in the National
International Peace Exhibition in 1986. “The Conductor

Chen Sheiyang” took part in a painting exhibition during Shanghai
International Arts Festival. The same painting also took part in an
exhibition held in Atlanta, USA. “Autumn Village” was exhibited at
East China Painting Exhibition in 1980. “Autumn Forest” took part in
the mobile exhibition of East China Youth Oil Painting Exhibition, and the
same painting was sold to a collector from Japan. “Jianzhen Sailing to
the East”, an oil painting in memory of Monk Jianzhen’s six times
sailing to Japan for preaching, was on display in a Shanghai exhibition in
1980. Other works displayed in Shanghai in 1985 and 1986 include “Native
Town”, “Village” and “Terra – Cotta Warriors”. Many works
collected by collectors from USA, Japan and Canada include “Tibetans”,
“Waterwheel in Prairie”, “Drinking Horse”, “Teahouse in South
China” and “Horse Wagon”, etc. His other art works include
“Plowing Buffalo” (800×400cm),
a fresco now kept in Xin Yuan Hotel in Shanghai, “Rivers and Lakes in
South China” (800×200cm),
a fresco now kept in Shanghai Cheng Qiao Hotel, and “The Oriental”
(500×244cm),
a soft fresco now kept in Shanghai Pacific Hotel.
