Biography

Zhan Jian Jun
   

 

  He was born in 1931, the Man nationality, and a native of Gai County, Liaoning Province. He graduated from the Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1953. He completed his graduate course at the Ink and Colour Painting Department of the same academy in 1955, and also graduated from the oil painting training class held by the experts from the Soviet Union. From then to the present he has been teaching in the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Now he is holding the posts such as professor of the above-mentioned academy, standing councillor of Chinese Artists’ Association, chairman of Chinese Oil Painting Art Committee and chairman of Chinese Oil Painter Society.   His main works include “Five Heroes on Langya Mountain”, “A Song on the Plateau”, “Tide”, “Green Field” and “Populus Diversifolia on Sand Dunes”, etc. His works took part in many important exhibitions at home and abroad, and successively won various awards such as the golden medal of All-China Art Works Exhibition and the first prize of Beijing Arts Exhibition, etc. He is a representative figure of the utmost importance among the oil painters of the same time. As one of the leaders of the Chinese circles of oil painting, he has made great contributions towards the cause of Chinese oil painting for his remarkable achievements. He has a high judgement for painting art, with outstanding technique of painting. In his works, it is shown the momentum, unrestriction and sense of beauty full of power of emotion, acquiring a high appraisement by  collectors overseas.
