Biography

Zhang Fang Zhen

Zhang was born in Chong Qing in 1934. He was graduated from the Fine Art Department of Chong Qing No 1 Normal School in 1954 and the oil painting department of Si Chuan Academy of Fine Arts. He had a further study in oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1963.

Zhang is the professor in the oil painting department of Si Chuan Academy of Fine Arts. He is also an excellent teacher conferred by the state and a tutor of postgraduates. He is an expert in oil painting who can enjoy the financial aid from the State Council. He is a member of China Artists Association and China Oil Painting Society and senator of Si Chuan Artists Association.

Zhang used to be the dean of the oil painting department and the chief editor of Contemporary Artists (a monthly magazine of Si Chuan Academy of Fine Arts).

His works have been many times shown in various exhibitions at different levels in China and abroad and rewarded distinguished awards. Art galleries and private collectors in China and abroad collect some of his works. Many of his academic essays appear in national periodicals. He has been invited to give lectures in some art colleges.
