Biography

Fang Gan Min
   

 

(1906-1984) A native of Wenling County, Zhejing Province, he was admitted to Paris Higher Art Institute in France in 1925 and studied oil painting under Loylongs. He returned to China in 1929 and successively worked as professor at Shanghai Xinhua Art Institute, National Xihu Art Academy, the National Hangzhou Art Institute, Shanghai Art Institute and Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts.

 His representative works include “A White Pigeon”, “Melody of Autumn”, “Dali Flowers” and “Picture of Sun Yat-sen Making a Will”, etc. In the paintings of his early years, it is in pursuit of full and extended composition form and glorious colour language, expressing his unique painting style. He is considered to be a gifted oil painting artist. Most of his posthumous works are kept in Nanjing Art Institute.
