Biography

Cui Kai Xi
   

 

Born in 1935, a native of Bengbu, Anhui Province, he once studied oil painting in the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is now holding the posts of professor and director of the oil painting teaching and research section at the Fine Arts Department of the Arts College of the People’s Liberation Army of China. He is also member of Chinese Artists’ Association.

He entered the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts in 1963, majoring oil painting. Since then he has been all along engaged in creation of oil painting. His representative works of painting cover “After the War Exercise”, “Supporting the Front”, “Drawing along the Roads of the Long March” and “He Long and Ren Bishi on the Way of the Long March”. The latter was awarded a bronze medal at the National Sixth Art Work Exhibition and in the collection of the China Art Gallery. The paintings “Fight at Shajao, Humen” and “Fight for Defending Beijing” were collected respectively by the Humen Memorial Hall of Guangdong and the Chinese Revolutionary Military Museum.

In recent years, he has produced a series of paintings depicting the natural conditions and social customs of grassland and pastoral areas, as well as paintings depicting the views of regions of rivers and lakes in the countryside, expressing the beauty of nature and the auspicious folk custums. His works were several times on display at home and broad. His solo shows were held respectively in Beijing in 1990 and in Hong Kong in 1991. His works of painting were widely collected by domestic and foreign collectors
